IHC Education Complaint

posted Sep 20, 2009 6:15 PM by Web Admin
IHC has lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission against government policies and practices that prevent disabled students participating fully at their local school.

The complaint, lodged on 31 July 2008, is aimed at practices that result in unequal learning opportunities for disabled students and that are attributable to government’s failure to ensure all students are able to learn alongside their peers at their local school.

The Human Rights Commission formally notified the Ministry of Education of the complaint on 9 April 2009.

It's not too late to participate in the complaint

IHC invites you to become involved by providing evidence of your experiences of disabled students being denied the right to full access to curriculum on the basis of impairment.

We are still collecting evidence from parents, schools, community organisations and those working in the education or disability sectors.
